No! That is not the age of reason. My daughter is 12 and she doesn't even think of boys yet. She is involved in dancing and sports. Why don't you get him involved in an after school activity? That is much to young to date!

At that age dating is just a status. I had boyfriends all throughout middle school and it was really a big joke. Relationships don't last longer than a couple of weeks, the furthest it really goes is maybe a hug... and that's a huge deal to someone that age. The worst thing that I really believe can come from it is a more expensive phone bill! Kids that age loove to talk on the phone especially when they are "dating." I would allow it as a parent it will help with social skills and give him the confidence he will need for high school.
Good luck!

no dont let him follow the trend of dating having sex and having kids before the age of 15, im not gonna let my kids date until they are 15 and ONLY group dates you really cant take chances these days its sad how many 14 year old girls ive seen with babies and a few had 2 year olds!

Your son has more important things to do than date. (At any age, really, but especially this one.) He needs to be told by someone closer to his age who has been there. I cared too much about a guy when I was 14, and it almost destroyed me. Get him to read some of these answers, and maybe he'll wise up.

Ask him what he wants in a relationship. It is at that age where guys and girls see other peers dating and want to join the ban wagon.

After you ask him what he wants in a relationship, if you have decided that it is a good answer, set some rules about dating.

Ie: not allowed alone in his bedroom...ect

Sure. If by date you mean play on the playground during recess together.
