Those actual words are not even in the bible as such. What it means though, is accepting as true, what Jesus taught, doing what he said, and believing and trusting him as your savior. Asking him for forgiveness, etc. A lot of people have asked "Jesus into their heart", I know I did as a kid, so I don't knock it. It is just a way of praying a prayer to God. It is not wrong, just not exactly literall. The good news? God knows our hearts, thoughts and motives, and loves us the same.

I think that when you accect Jesus as your savior, you are letting Him or say the holy spirit into your heart. You are opening up your heart to let Him take hold of your life and give you inner peace. When you get saved, you are saying that you believe in Him and will put your trust in Him for everything. It's a beautiful thing. When you are truely saved, you don't walk alone though this crazy life but instead, you have someone who will be there for you whenever you need it. You are saved from condemption by your faith and trust in Him. And who doesn't need that ? We all do.

The heart is an organ of the body which keeps you alive. But people also refer to the heart where the spirit and emotions of man is involved. Example. "I love you with all my heart". You don't mean the organ that is beating in your chest. What you mean is that place in your soul where you love and have feelings. The heart is thought to be the very soul of a man. Jesus goes to that part of you that is what makes you, you. Your spirit. Indeed, He lives with you daily, moment by moment.

Saved means that you passed sins are forgiven and at that point, you are welcome in to heaven. The Holy Spirit ( should you choice to accept it ) becomes a sort of " spiritual counselor " a Jiminy Cricket, compelling you to make moral choices.

Understand that this is no light matter. To do this, you must mean to will all your heart in a sincere attempt to live as God would have you to. If you don't really mean it from the beginning, it doesn't count. Best wishes.

In the New Testament, THE WORD HEART IS REPRESENTED BY THE WORD KARDIA. FROM WHICH WE GET THE WORD CARDIAC. HOWEVER IN THE GREEK TEXT IT MEANS MIND. So Yes Jesus does become central to your thinking. Think of the verse "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." We know we think with our minds. Our Heart pumps blood. So really you are asking Jesus into your mind, to become the object of your thinking. Hope that helps, it was a great question.

OK for me, when I accepted Christ as my savior I was overcome with the most aw some feeling. It was like joy, peace, happiness, love overflowing inside me. It was the most amazing thing that could have ever happened to me.

You see I hated myself, I was broken, alone, and destitute. My whole life it seemed was just one bad event after another. I blamed my family, my choices, myself for my place in life.

I learned about Christ from some christian bikers, you know ex hells angels and stuff. People who knew what I was going through. People that have sen it, and done it. Living proof of the healing powers of Christ.

I committed, and have never looked back. His spirit dwells within you. It describes it in the beginning of acts, when it's time for Pentecost. Truly an amazing thing.

When you are saved, meaning that you acknowledge your own imperfect, failed nature, that you acknowlege Jesus is the Son of God who came to this world in physical form to die for you and your imperfect, failed nature, that you acknowlege that He rose again from death and lives now, and that you acknowlege Him as your Lord, Master, Boss of your life, then He promises that he will be with you forever, that he will never abandon you or forsake you, and that he will send His Holy Spirit to comfort you, to guide you, to strengthen you.

We are told that our bodies are the Temples of the Holy Spirit, that He abides in us. Mark Lowry, a Christian comedian, once said Jesus is not interested in entering our hearts... he isn't interested in sitting in a ventricle watching the blood cells go by... but rather filling our entire being. He not only wants to be in our happiest rooms in our "temple" but also the darkest most wretched rooms that we don't even want to acknowlege that they even exist. He is not out to point out our faults, but rather heal them. He wants to live in every part of us and give us life. He said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life..." To replace the death and the rot in our basements and dusty attics, with true life, with peace that surpasses understanding, with love that knows no ends. To replace the imperfect with the Perfect, not by just saying "this is wrong", "fix this", "get your act together", but rather "I love you, let's do this together", "this is too hard for you alone", "let me carry this for you... carry you... for all eternity".

That's why its called the Good News...

Yes.. By the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:12-14 (New King James Version)

12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[a] is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory

It is more talking about your Spirit, God refreshes it and makes it new. As you get to know God better and trust Him further, and give Him areas of your life he resides there too.

It is a little bit confusing, but ultimately, "heart" is what our culture uses to talk about our innerself/ Spirit. Other cultures use the bowles or other various organs.

Your Spirit identifies with God, and His Spirit testifies about Jesus.
