I'm starting to like this guy that is about a year or a year and a half at the most younger than me (I'm 16) and I feel a little dirty, in the bad way, for it. I kind of feel like if I hit on him or anything that I'd be robbing the cradle, even if the age gap isn't that big at all.

I dunno. We seem to have the same tastes in TV and music and all that crap. I've been really thinking about this for a while and think I might try to talk to him a little tomorrow and try to be really subtle about me liking him. Maybe just see if we could be friends, see if it goes anywhere after that.

Anyone have any comments or advice?

You should be dating guys older than you, that way they are the same maturity level as you, or at least closer. you will be in complete control with a younger guy, so if thats what you want then its ok go for it.

It's not a big deal you liking this guy. So what he's a lil younger than you. It's not like your 18 or over and he's like, say 15 or something. It's good that you are concerned - that means you have a conscience. But if he's only a year or so younger -- big deal. If yall get along great - that's all that matters. Switch the shoes.......would it make much difference if he were your age and you his??? Now when you hit your 30's and if by chance, your single........it would be different if you had your eye on some teenager.....then it would be time to seek help. But if your only 16, you're in the clear honey. Go for it. Good luck.

It's not so much about age as it is about maturity level. Maybe he is more mature than some of the 18 year olds out there. As you get older a year or two won't mean a thing. I'm old now - but when I was a senior in high school - I dated a sophomore. It was hard when I went off to college and he was still in high school - and after a year or so - we broke up. But I've never thought there was anything wrong with it. If you like him and you have things in common - I think you should go for it!

Go for it!! A year or two age difference is nothing. I did the same thing when I was that age (not that I'm really much older now). It's really not a big deal as long as both of yall discuss your comfort levels as far as how far things go. If you really like him and if yall have things in common, then go for it, have a good time, and don't worry about the age because its not a big deal.

If he doesn't know you then try to make small talk with him, maybe you will become friends with him, and take it from there. I have a small age difference in my relationship and things are going fine.

But be careful about what you are doing cause he may have more experince and may what to take it further than you want it to. Same thing with me. If you do make it with him then make it clear that if you want to go slow, tell him to go slow, maybe he will try to move on you anyway, but keep making the point to him, but don't do it every time cause either he may think it is annoying or he may think that you are a baby. If it don't work out don't break your heart, things always happen in different age groups

Good luck!

It doesn't sound like a big deal to me. I dated a guy a year younger than I when I was in 9th grade and he was in 8th. That was a hundred years ago though, lol (1972 maybe)
