I'm travelling there from Australia on an exchange visa and have about 5months worth of anti biotics that I need to bring with me.

I would suggest that you pack the medication and not bring in your carry on. Also make sure that they medication is in the original packaging with your name on the prescription. One other thing you may do is research on the TSA website as they set the regulations for items you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you in the US http://www.tsa.gov/

I always take all my medication with me when I travel, even overseas. Could you put it in your suitcase? As far as I know, you can't carry fluids with you on the plane.

Don't do it, esecially if it is liquid. They will think you are a terrorist and put you in jail. They got all the medication you need there.
