When I was younger I used to get ear infections all the time and my mom who is an RN always had me lay on/hold a heating pad over my ear while I would sleep, or lay on the couch and watch TV.

take a decongestant and some ibuprophen or aspirin, and apply a little heat. That should help shrink the swelling in the eusatcian tube and let the infection clear out.

I would get this checked out because left untreated some ear infections can cause permanent hearing loss.

My mother-in-law swears by urine, and my aunt swears by olive oil. but personally, from experience, you need an antibiotic to clear it up completely. Untreated ear infections can lead to ruptured eardrums.

using a hair dryer will elleviate some of the pain, but will not cure one. Just blow the warm air around your ear.

I would use a cordless drill and a 1/4" drill bit (sterilized, of course)
