Go big or go home. If you have enough with one can, great! If not , aren't you glad you picked up the other? Same goes with the sour cream.

Depends on what you what or what you like. Buy two cans of beans & 16 oz. of sour cream & see which you need or use. Personally I would go with 2 beans 16 oz. sour cream...

1 can of refried beans and one 8 oz container of sourcream, I love 7 layer dip, I like the chip to be able to cut through all 7 layers and grab a little of each, too much in one layer prevents that from happening and you may as well have 7 bowls with the different ingredients and that defeats the purpose.

2 cans and 16 oz. But I make my layers thick in a deep pan. Love it.

depends on how big u want it. I would go with 2 cans beans and 16oz sour cream :)
