You can't charge them by the hour as though it were a regular babysitting job...I mean, come on, that would be a fortune. Charge a flat rate, not by the hour, and something respectable like $400 or so. Charging them something ridiculous like $1000 or more for one week is absurb....that's A LOT more than many people make working full time at a "regular" job. Yeah, I understand you're watching 2 kids for a full week, more than 40 hours, but part of it is about you being a good person/friend and not acting like it's a career. I don't know many people who would pay someone $1000 or more for a weeks worth of babysitting...I know I wouldn't.

Since you'll be there the whole time, that's 24 hours a day at $10/hr. So that works out to $240 per day.

If that seems a bit steep you can reduce it to say $8 an hour, which would be about $190 per day.

Or to be really nice, you could figure that you'll be asleep for 7 hours of that, making the day only 17 hours. That would be either $170 per day (@ your regular $10/hr) or $136 per day (@ the $8/hr rate).

Personally, I would go with $10/hr minus the time you're asleep, since that is technically the only time you're not working. At $170 per day you'd charge $1190 for the whole week (assuming we're talking 7 days).

I know that seems like a lot, but for watching TWO kids AND their house for an entire week, I think it's fair. Especially since there are two kids. I know people who charge $10/hr to watch one!

I would say about $125-$150 a day depending on how much housekeeping etc. that they expect you to do. Also you want to make sure that they leave extra money for food or other incidentals.

If you are a good sitter, then paying $700-$1000 to watch two young children is a good investment for round the clock care.

What can she afford. $100 a day would be real good. Are there advantages to you being there, like can you do a bunch of laundry or sewing? If she feeds you, even $80 a day would be good. Just depends how much you are putting your life on hold for her childcare.
