Sanmigsean has seen the light as far as serious beers are concerned, involving quality production and consistency of taste and strength.
However,
I must say here that, for me, there is only one beer, which I have been drinking in various strange places for 25 years.
It is a Philippine company, and not Spanish or Mexican as some would like to believe, they are franchise partnerships with the parent company in Manila.
I drink, on average, 4-5 litres of this beer every day from dawn until around 8.00 pm when I like to go to bed, not because I'm drunk, but simply because I enjoy the sunrise and sunset and everything in between on the beautiful island I live on in this country.
The consistency of this beer has improved much over the years, and, instead of finding foreign bodies inside the bottles every 100 beers, it's now probably one in a thousand, and it's not a strong beer, so, easy to drink during the hot days in the Philippines.
Several new versions of this beer have been introduced, none of which I like very much.
The original and still the best is:-
San Miguel Pale Pilsen!

I prefer German beer. Belgian beer is very popular with connosieurs, but it tends to be sweet and syrupy in general; at least the Belgians I have tasted, and those are quite a few. German brewers deliver a variety from light and crisp to, heavy seets and heavy bitters.
Some English beer is good. Some American beer is good. Many countries make mediocre, but drinkable beer, Spain for instance. Chinese beer is not good, but it's cheap in China. Mexican beer is especially bad.

Come on? Canada? Mexico? Singapore? Not to mention the USA which has the absolute cr*ppiest beer ever brewed?
Granted they have 'good' beers, you are missing the obvious:
Germany!
very close are beers from the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and yes Belgium.

Belgium of course!! There are over 500 different kinds of beer in Belgium, more than one for each day of the year! They are treated with the same gastronomical value as the French treat their wines. In per head consumption the Belgians may not top the list (I believe the germans do) but as far as quality and variety is concerned there is NO DOUBT!
Cheers!

With the ongoing microbrew movement, it would have to be the U.S.A. There are more brewers, making more beers, taking more flavor risks, who aren't bound by tradition that the U.S. can't help but make the best beers in the world.

Canada. After five bottles, you're pissed drunk. With american beer, you can get drunk after 20-30 bottles. Not worth the money. Whoever makes Guiness is a close second too.
