yes it stops.....if it no longer has a warm breathing HOST or parasite..then it cannot survive...however....some things do not die right away...like Hepatitis C...it could take a couple of days I believe...it's almost like there is nothing for it to "breathe or breed on"

Most viruses will die within hours of the death of the person. Bacteria will continue to live...aerobic and anaerobic. Bacteria will seep from the intestines into the abdominal cavity within an hour of death.
Embalming will halt this from happening, only if the body has been infused properly with fluids and the abdomen and chest are treated by other methods than arterial embalming.

Yes the disease dies as there is no oxygen nor fresh blood or nutrients from food to help it grow. Plus the tissue that it had invaded is dead.

Once a person is deceased, there is nothing left for an infection/disease to live on. It can no longer thrive--on that person anyhow.
