I need to know the pros and cons of going to a private high school. All of my friends are going to the public high school we feed into, including the really smart ones. I know, and have the assurance of teachers and relatives, that I could get into Harker, but NONE of my friends are going there. It looks like an awesome school but I'm afraid to leave all of my friends. Should I apply or just go to Westmont?

Why?

What do you want?
What do your parents want?

Go see the schools without an invitation - and that way you'll get an idea of what it feels like.

Go see the schools - to talk to guidance counselors - after you went there on your own.

You will make new friends no matter where you go. Who says you leave your friends just because you change schools?
However, you are right in that your peers will become those who you see everyday.

GOD bless.
I went to private till 6th grade, then went to public. To me, public had more opportunites for growth and some of it was very tough.
