Would you enlist in the US Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines or Coast Guard? If you're currently enlisted, are you planning to reenlist? Why, or why not?

My husband is enlisted, and has reenlisted. I would totally enlist, except I have 2 small children, that I don't want to leave for that long. He reenlisted because the money and the benefits. The military is full of a lot of gay bull$h!+ , but when it comes down to it, they take very well care of you, if you factor in all of the money and benefits we get, it turns out he makes 38.00/hour, that's not bad for a 25 yr old. Not to mention the fact that he rarely works, and still gets paid. So yeah the military is probably the best job you could have, provided you don't enlist to go fight. He's Airforce, and he works on planes. He's been deployed plenty of times, but there's no worries when he leaves. I wouldn't enlist in the army or marines, i hear they make less money too. Not to mention if you live in base housing, there base housing looks like a straight up crack villiage. We looked at there base housing and decided that we would stay on an Airbase. This is my second time living in base housing, and i have to say you can't beat it. It's nice, it's free, and you still get paid just as much. You don't get BAH but BAH doesn't cover everything anyway. So I would enlist. Your life is very stable.

Yes I did enlist in the Marine Corps, if you like being proud of what you do enlist in the Marines, if you have no pride in anything you do enlist in one of the other services. And I did reenlist and will continue to reenlist until they wont let me reenlist anymore.

My buddy is in the Navy and hates it... long hours of tedious work on a submarine, and not getting any time off for 5-6 months this last time. I'm sure not all branches are like that... but I'd say Coast Guard if I had to pick one. It would be very interesting stopping drug traffickers and illegal immigrants.

I am in the Navy and I am up for re-enlistment in less then 2yrs but I am not going to. I am having way to much fun and I really need to get my head back in the books... i don't feel i can fully commit myself to an education while still in the service. They pay me for having a blast!! Don't get me wrong, I have seen some $h*t since I have been in but I still love my job, just not enough to do it for the rest of my life.
I don't have one single regret !

I tried to enlist in the Marines but they turned me away because I am too small. So now I am supporting other Marines via mail.
Maybe I'll try again after college...I love our great county.

I want to enlist in the NAVY. Because they give me experience I need for the future. But I'd wait till I'm done with college to decide if I want to.

my husband is in the army and has reenlisted multiple times now. the benefits of staying in are better now than ever. the bonuses are at a high and if you love your job like he does, there's no reason not to. Reenlistment rate is at an all-time high

I am joining the Navy to fight for my country. I was going to join the Marines at first but I decided I wanted to be a SEAL.
