So I'm having a problem and disagreement here. My horse that I used to own (found him again after 3+ years of looking for him) his new change-able resistured name is now Caliente (How do you pronounce that?) And my dad and the owner of my horse (I used to own) says it means, Hot. But friends and school say it means shut up or be quiet.

What does it mean?

thank you

Ruby is right, it does mean hot. Has nothing to do with shut up or be quiet. Callate means shut up or be quiet.

It definitely means 'hot', pronounced ka-lyEN-teh. Your friends are thinking of 'callate' [KA-ya-teh], which does mean 'shut up'.

Dave H, the phrase you need is 'tengo calor' [I feel hot (temperature wise)].
