its hard telling. you will probablly end up in either.
Camp Lejune NC
Camp Pendelton CA
K Bay HI
29 Stumps CA
Okinawa Japan.
I have only been on a ship once. in my whole 7 years in. the USS Enterprise. Had a great time. Its hard to say how long and often you will be deployed. I've only been deployed overseas 3 times in my 7 years in. Expect to do 6 months deployed and (if your lucky) a year home. Thats what the new Commadant is pushing for.

My BF is an 0311 as well. Is home station is MCBH Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. There are infantry units in North Carolina and California as well. You probably won't know where you will be stationed until after SOI. Whether or not you are attached to a ship will depend on what unit you are in.
My BF has never been on a ship!

Your MOS will likely put you at three possible locations. Okinawa Japan, Camp Pendleton California or Camp Lejeune North Carolina. For being on ship, count on it!!! It used to be normal for 6 month cruises, however, they are even longer at times, and 90 percent of Marines will go on the cruise liner. eventually, it will come down to an overseas date, which means you either do time on ship or a year in Okinawa. Take the ship duty!!!!!!!!!!!11

You'll know when you get your orders. There are no 'usual' places for infantry. You'll know when you know. Don't worry about it. As far as spending time on Navy ships that totally depends on need and orders. The only times I've spent on Navy ships were for deployments overseas.

Marines are primarily ground forces. You will be doing ground fighting primarily. If yoiu successfully complete boot camp and ITR, you will most likely wind up in Iraq.

I don't really think you will find out till after boot camp. Not all Marines go on ship though.

It all depends. My husband was on ship when he was in the Marines but not for very long. He was in Okinawa and he said he loved it and had a great time.
