It is SO refreshing to be asked out! For most men, it is extremely rare. It's enormously flattering, and puts us on our best behavior.
We do like to be the agressor. Pursuit is important, but often yields nothing. Being asked out is so "out of left field," it's most excellent.
In doing so, you have to strike a careful balance between assertive and interested. The right guy will be blown away.

Call me old fashioned, but I’ve always felt it’s the guys responsibility to ask the girl out. Now in the event that a girl did ask me out, I’d set a date and then go out and do what the heck ever, but would feel a little weird having the girl ask. Granted, I am a guy and remain pretty oblivious anything more subtle than “HEY! ASK ME OUT, STUPID!!!” I have no problem with being asked out by girls; just seems to me that the guy should be doing the asking.

It doesn't matter what they "prefer." It matters that the thinking of girls today has become rather twisted (in my opinion) into believing that they should be the ones doing the asking out.
This question or a facsimile thereof comes up about 20 times per day and my answer is always the same:
Boy asks out girl and not vice versa.
Liberalism is to blame for the incorrect way of thinking, IMHO.

From my personal experience, 95% of men prefer to do the asking out but strangely, half of that 95% really dig it if a girl asks them out.

It's the 20th century anything goes.. either the gal makes the 1st move or guy does!! Guys like it when a gal ask them out though it tell them that they know what they want and not afraid to get it!! Trust Me.

Both ways are just fine.
Remember if you ask someone out then it is up to you to pay.
If you ask your boyfriend to go some place or do something then it is your responsibility to pay.
That is the main reason most girls will and do not ask their boys out. They manage to get them to do the asking so they have to pay.
Most of us guys fall for it as well.

well i was reserved when i was younger and my (now ex) wife asked me out so it dont have a preference --- both can be good
