YOU need to be a stronger pack leader and these dogs should be spayed sooner than later, what are you waiting for?

http://leerburg.com/2dogs.htm is an article you should take the time to read and understand if you want you shitzu to stay alive when the mastiff turns 18mos.

You need to keep them apart when you aren't there to supervise! This could be an accident waiting to happen especially when the mastiff outgrows the shih-tzu. A bullmastiff should NEVER be kicked outside... they are NOT meant to live in exile. If that is your "only option" you need to find a better home for the mastiff.

Some of what you are seeing may be normal interactions between dogs... the shih-tzu is probably trying to teach the mastiff "the ropes". Bull mastiffs are not known for backing down though (did you do any research on the breed? They were bred to take down a poacher and sit on them until the land owner got there - they don't take crap from anyone or anything) so your mastiff pup will likely try to be the dominant one.

You can not choose who will be the alpha dog, they need to sort that out on their own and any interference from you can make things worse. However 9 weeks is a little young for a power struggle. Also, more times than not, 2 females will not live in complete and total harmony, but neither will 2 males. The best bet if you need to have 2 dogs is to have 1 of each sex, and have both fixed. Your problem will be doubly compounded when they are coming into heat... so it would be advisable to have them both spayed... the shih-tzu NOW, and the bullmastiff as soon as your vet tells you she is ready!

I have three female dogs and had to go through adjustments of introducing the new one to the other, then otherS. They are all very well adjusted now and here are their breed mixes:
The eldest is an Australian Shepherd and Irish Setter mix (mostly), the next is a Golden Retriever and Anatolian Shepherd mix and the youngest is mostly Pit Bull.
With a lot of socialization, oversight and some basic obedience classes there haven't been any real problems so it is possible for your dogs to get along.
You may want to consider having them spayed too. Not that you would have to but it would make things less complicated for you and would be healthy for the dogs.
When I got the youngest one, the eldest did not want to have anything to do with her and I didn't push the relationship but as they all got into their routine together, dog park, socialization, playing with toys together, eating around each other etc and any problem behavior was corrected from the start, they adjusted well. You might want to go to training classes while your puppy is smaller than what it will be in a very short time. Your "baby" doesn't know her power and the Shih Tzu is working over time to set boundaries.
They can become friends! I'd recommend a training class for them both. PetSmart has reasonable classes and you might want to check on individual classes for your two.
If finances aren't a factor, you might want to get references for a good trainer in your area. GL with your dogs!

find a better home for the mastiff or it will end up killing your ****-zu simply because it is bigger and will be more agressive . my brother has an italian mastiff and she is huge and she almost killed the neighbors chi if my brother had not been there the chi would have been killed because kloe is a mastiff and she is agressive by her very nature . good luck and god bless and happy holidays.

Two females are notorious for fighting. If someone has a dog and says they want a 2nd dog it is recommended they get a dog of the opposite sex. Even if you spay both dogs it won't reduce the aggressiveness much.
