I am giving a presentation and I know there is some way to make the notes at the bottom appear on the computer but not on the projection screen.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

In order to do this, the projector needs to be setup as an "Extended Desktop" or Second Monitor, not as a cloned monitor. This means the projector needs to NOT show the same thing as the regular monitor. If you need help with this, you may want to talk to a local tech, or your IT department if you have one.

Once it is set up that way, go to Powerpoint, go to the "Slide Show" menu, then go to "Set up show". There will be an option for multiple monitors. Set the slide show to display on the second monitor, and choose to use the presenter view. This option won't be available until a second monitor has been set up.

When set up like this, the presenter will see a small view of the slide show on the regular monitor with the notes displayed, and the projector will show the regular slide show without the notes.

When you're actually typing up your powerpoint presentation, makes notes to yourself in the note box.

As you're presenting your presentation click on the triangle when the show starts, and clock on speaker notes. The notes that you entered in the notes will only appear on your screen, that is if you presentation is presented by you the speaker in the show set up.

Unfortunately, the projection screen is usually set up to show exactly what's on the computer screen, so if you have your notes showing on the computer screen, the projector will show it too. I suggest using note cards if you can.

I think there is a note view you can use for printouts. I don't know how you would go about avoiding the notes from going to the projector.
