We're talking generations of bad breeding. Look at Mary Maddox. Escaped a religiously oppressive family, became a teenage street prostitute, and hooked up with a drugstore cowboy. They had a boy together who grew up to be criminally insane: Charles Manson.
I'm afraid that if people failed their background checks, they would go screw in Canada and Mexico, and come back to the states to give birth.

At the time I became pregnant I would have failed any test that was required to have kids. I was 18, on several kinds of drugs, unemployed, and all about me. Getting pregnant with my son saved my life. I gave up drugs and got a job and married the father and became what I think is a great mom to two well behaved, respectful, honest, gifted sons. I agree that there are people out there who should not have kids but you never know what kind of parent you will be until you become a parent. I was a highschool drop out and both of my kids are in the gifted program at school. My 4th grader is doing the same math my husband is doing in college. People like Andera Yates should pay with their lives for what they have done. I do agree with you there.

Interesting that you posed that question today when we just learned that a supposedly abducted 5 yr. old was murdered by his mother and her boyfriend. Yes, I have often wished that having children could be controlled, but, then we would be a fascist state and THAT would be terrible for all of us!

Totally agree. Too many people have kids that are not ready, and not willing to be parents. Then the kids grow up in poor households.

true, but what about post pardom (is that spelled right?) depression and other stuff that comes along.
I would say 60% of insane moms were insane after they had their first child.
