I hang out sometimes with this afghan girl I met. She is nice but she is not too fond of showers. I believe in showering daily. Is this a custom for people of Afghanistan, not to shower daily?. Can someone from Afghanistan answer the question.

Well in some religions, women aren't allowed to shower at all during their periods. They consider periods to be sins (I think) and no showering to be punishment. Maybe shes just using "I am not fond of them" because shes a bit embrassed.

I am from Afghanistan. My parents were born in Afghanistan. My parents made us shower a lot. Two showers a day sometimes! Our parents made us wash our hand and feet constantly and face two times a day.

FYI I was born in California. Moved to Missouri at age four. I never got to go to Kabul.

Muslims honestly are more hygenic than others. If you research you will find out. They don't only believe in showering everyday to squiky cleanliness but also wash their hands feet and face etc 5 more times a day - ideally. they also use tissue and water. But I think it is this particular girl who is choosing to be different.

I am not Afghani but I think I may be able to answer your question. Some Afghani women may not wear deoderant or other anti-perspirants, and this may be the reason you dont find her as fresh as her American counterparts. As far as I know, showering is the norm in Afghanistan, but the culture of hygeine is different from country to country...the smell you smell may also be of the aromatic cooking spices she has in her home, as these can infuse clothes...
