hmm... very good question.
My friend M has a dog named Bongo. I dogsit for Bongo. Friend M says "Bongo loves to get dressed up!" so I put the Santa skirt on Bongo. Bongo sits on the bed and gives me a painful, long-suffering look and says "not you, too. geez. what's up with these crazy humans who make me wear clothes? why don't you make my big golden sister wear clothes, and not little delicate me?" so I took off the sweater and apologized.
on the other hand, my bf E has a dog named clementine, who has never worn clothes. E and his brother Z buy Clem a superman cape for Halloween. Clem puts it on and after a few minutes, says "oh look. me super-doggie! me can go out, me can wear super-clothes. Take me trick-or-treating!" so we did and she was the hit of the neighborhood. Everywhere we went she said "look at me, me pretty, me super-doggie!" and everyone petted her and fussed over her. Then she said "me tired, me want to sleep in me new outfit" so she did.

I think that if your dog says he looks gay in the sweater, and you disagree and really think he ought to wear it, you should get a different opinion - maybe take him out to the doggie fashion park and see if his feelings change when lots of pretty adult human women start cooing and going "oh look, how cute." he might just say "you know, me like this sweater. Me think me look okay" and bask in the attention. But if he continues to look at you and tell you "mom, me looka stupid" then put it on him once, take a good picture for your myspace page and then put the sweater in a closet.

Why not make another sweater thats suitable 4 a male dog.As 4 the sweater that u had made,give2 a friend who has a female dog.Saves your hard work and the love u have 4 your dog.

Let him wear the sweater anyways, who cares. My dog in New York used to be so cold, when I took him out he would roll over on his back his feet were so cold. He wore a sweater and a jacket. I say, if he doesn't like it, don't make him wear it.. But if it is cold, dress him up no matter how he looks!

Your boyfriend said that, right? Not the dog. Most dogs do look gay wearing sweaters but who cares, I'd rather look gay then have frostbite, wouldn't you?

Cool, my dogs talk also, so I asked them your question. Jed said, "Just shut up and wear it, she worked hard on it for you.", Zeke said,"You don't need no stinking sweater, your a dog. Geez."
So, there you go. Always trust Zeke. He has a much saner view of the world.

Pardon me but you said your dog told you he did not like the sweater. How can that be if dogs don't talk?
