Hi Globo898,
Go to your local health food store and get a bottle of:
Oil of Oregano.
Put about four drops in about 1/4 cup of water and gulp it down, Reason being, it is a very pungent taste and can be uncomfortable in your mouth.
You will be over your cold before you realize you got one.
At the first sign of a cold, I take the Oil and the cold never has a chance.

I drink chicken or pork broth, but any kind of broth should do. I keep Emergen-C on hand, it's a fizzy vitamin supplement you can get in most grocery stores. Some sell them individually. You put it in water like Alka Seltzer.
The most important thing is the broth. Taking showers or baths with lots of steam (I keep vapor bath on hand). Tea is good too.
These things will keep you hydrated, may help decongest you and provide some nourishment if your appetite is lessened.

Really honestly the best quickest way to FULLY get rid of your cold is to just rest, take vitamins, eat healthy, drink lots of fluids,if you smoke-don't, go to bed EARLY!!!! And Nyquil of course... you can always take dayquil...but your cold will linger if you don't take it easy!
