To create demand for the product. By offering the McRib only part of the year, their profits are higher per day the product is on the market.

To taunt us and tease...
We spend the whole year yearning for it. The advertisment gets our mouths watering, your tongue wagging, and the craving becomes so strong that you rush to the nearest Golden Arches in the vincinity.
Once you are able to sink your teeth in you become enraptured in the pork and beef byproduct sandwich, and by the time you lick the bbq sauce off your fingers, you rush to the counter to order a second one...you realize that it has already been taken off the menu, and you have to wait an entire year for the next McRib.
After you suffer from heartburn all day, you'll be thankful you only get one a year...but you will long forget the painful acid indigestion by the time you hear "mmm mm mm mm I'm lovin it" and your mouth gets watering for another bite of that tangy sandwich that melts in your mouth.

maybe it better if you just stick urself in the face wit sewing pins cuz that what fast food doin to ur artery. u know life is bad when u wonderin why mickey d only offer certain sandwiches at certain time of the year! come on now....if somebody poke u wit a sewin needle frying grease prolly run right out of you. forget mc rib and go to the MCGYM. STOP EATIN SO MUCH FAST FOOD. DAMN YOU

Because its such garbage. It is horrible. You can only torture people so long before they revolt. As a matter of fact when i see its on the menu I find it so gross that instead of ordering something else I personally boycott mcdonalds till they remove it. I tried it once and it is so gross id rather eat dog crap

I work for them, its only for a season, then they come up with something else to replace it. Yeah thats how it is, just to get more people to go there i guess. It works.

my sis used to work there and she said its only a promo item for the season and she said it sucks they don't have it all the time too.
