What I mean is if you ask God a direct question what happens to give you the answer? How do you know it is an answer from God and not from your own sub conscience?

I hear voices in my head all the time.
Not my subconscious so much though.
They each have a different 'tone' of voice.
I don't worship, follow, or obey YHVH, so I thought I wouldn't get Him much, but He talks all the time....
His voice 'sounds' different from the voices of Thoth, Math, Shekinah, Bright, Athene, Ullr, Source.....

However, often my prayers are often not answered in words, but in interesting coincidences later....

Here's how you find out for yourself personally;
Romans 10: 9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

It comes in different ways. You often know before you ask when your spirit gets a check in it. There are times the power associated with the answer gives you confirmation and other times you aren't sure and you wait
