No, keeping troops in Iraq indefinately does not spell victory. Keeping our troops in Iraq until the Iraqi security force is ready and able to take care of their own security spells victory. Bush and Congress cannot decide the proper time to come home. Only the Iraqi parliment and the generals on the ground can do that.

If we pull out now, the same thing will happen in Iraq that happened in Somalia. The country will fall apart, and the Iraqi military and police force that we have taken so long to train will be overrun and killed. He simply means that we must remain in Iraq until the situation is under control, and the Iraqis can deal with the problems them selves. We are trying to stabilize the country, not take it over.

You win by completing the mission. If we bring the troops home now that will not be completed.

What I think he ment is that if our troops leave then Iraq will get over run majorly so if we go it will be a loss in a way because then we did all that work for nothing.

Yes. It's kind of like Israel. You force your way into the Middle East. Set up a virtual military state and then fight Muslims/terrorists in low level wars for eternity. The Israelis love it, we do it in Korea (although were not fighting there), so why not make Iraq the 51st state of America? Beats letting a new anti- US dictator being elected in Iraq? Don't you think?
