Pez or Pescado?

Question

Okay... would you use pez or pescado. Pez means live fish, right? And pescado means a fish that has been caught or eaten... SO... if a fisherman catches a fish but it's still alive, would the fish be called pez or pescado???

ALSO... translation of hut and cottage into spanish? A hut is smaller than a cottage but the English-Spanish Dictionary lists the same word for hut and cottage: cabana.

Once the fish is outside the water is called pescado. Unless the fish goes back to the water, then you called it pez. But if it is caught no matter if it is dead or alive, you called it pescado anyway.

depends on what form or tese it is in. a pet fish is pez, and a fish on oyur dinner plate is pescado. my teacher had a discussion with us about this last year. it would still be pez.

Good question. I would go with "pescado", because it technically means "fished", meaning it's been caught. Even if you haven't eaten it yet!
