Bush attacked Iraq because Ariel Sharon demanded it. The purpose of the Second Iraq War was to provide security for Israel. Saddam Hussein made the mistake of launching SCUD missiles into Israel during the First Gulf War, and Israel demanded the US remove that threat. The so-called ' war on terror' really meant was "war on terror against israel" and had nothing to do with terrorism against the US.
And no, it was NOT because of any UN resolutions of which Iraq did not comply; Israel has been the subject of or has violated something in the neighborhood of 63 UN resolutions betwen 1955 and 1992; by that reasoning the US would have been more justified in attacking Israel.
Other than that, nobody really knows why George Bush attacked Iraq, not even Bush himself. It's a great mystery.

We wanted cheap oil, yeah right. War is going to make it cheaper...
Dad was dissed, so we will do exactly what my Dad was afraid of... To honor him, or not...
We did it because Sharon wanted it... 150,000 american soldiers, sent to the middle east because a leader of a tiny country called Israel wants it. And Clinton was only able to send a Tomahawk into the desert after AQ killed dozens.... But we tell tell Japan to take a flying leap when they ask us to limit the impact of our Marine base in Okinawa.
There is a disconnect here...
And some believe we will send our soldiers to die in Iraq because we are cowtowing to Jerusalem.
Bush attacked Iraq because muslims had been killing Americans for years, Beirut, Nairobi, Cole, NY1, NY2. The muslims are comfortable killing us, we just didn't know it, or care. Bush adopted a fairly intelligent position, if we are living next to a pestilential pond, breeding malarial mosquitos, (i.e. Wahabis) we won't wait to kill the mosquitos, we will do our best to drain the pond, and thereby protect our citizens from the threat of malaria... So we don't wait to have to kill terrorists, we try to build a nation that will make Wahabis seem ridiculous. Uhhmmm.... I think it is safe to say that Iraq is not the country we tried to forge.

Bush wants oil-- forget those texas stories. So he's getting congress to approve his ew secretary of defense who's scary. -- he's called "The Gates of Hell". Years ago, Bill Gates was nearly indicted on the Iran Contra affair for lying to Congress for skewing intelligence. He actually negotiated to keep American hostages as prisoners during the iran hostage affair. He illegally advocated bombing the Nicaruagan ports.
He is a war hawk who is expected to send more troops to Iraq. which is guaranteed to escalate the battles and lead America to further wars.

nicely, that grow to be between the justifications he used while addressing the yank public. however the fact is that we necessary a foothold in that area the place stability is a shaggy dog tale and there grow to be a clean and present day possibility to u . s . a . of america. Iraq appeared as stable a place as any after Afghanistan. everyone else in the area hated them, so as that they'd not protest too lots. It appeared to paintings with regard to getting the attention of those that would desire to p.c. to attack us, and drew them into the conflict. no longer count what you think of of the WMD element, so what? the fact of existence would be merciless. i think of Paul McCartney mentioned it maximum suitable. "stay and enable die." that's the historical past of the international. One much less psycho tyrant to rigidity approximately.

I think it's a big part of the reason, that and power & oil. He just tries to make it look like it's all about "keeping americans safe" and "spreading democracy".
