Dawkins is the master of the straw man; he props up what he would prefer religion to be (and to be fair some fundamentalists are all too eager to oblige), and then knocks that red herring over.

I'd really love to see him go toe to toe with a Francis Collins instead of a Ted Haggard. It is easy to make an idiot look like an idiot. But could Dawkins take on a scientist far more accomplished than he is? (Collins' human genome project is probably the most important scientific milestone of the post-Einstein era, and to add to its audacity, offers more insight into human evolution than Dawkins' entire publication catalogue.)

Never met "Tricky Dicky" myself, but like a lot of original (or semi-original) thinkers, he seems to be a bit of an opinionated wanker.

Can he throw a fifty-yard pass? Unlikely.

He was a good mate of Douglas Adams though, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt which he doesn't possess.

He's great. He's really bringing atheism into the mainstream. It still has a ways to go but he's helping it along.
