I am retired, and I used to love it, when I was an officer till I was invovled in the filming of one of the shows, they keep doing re-shoots, had stand in, let other officers do the arrest on TV than the real ones that did it.
When we saw the actual show from the real event, it was a joke, I never watched another show after that.
Next just think of it, if a officer jumps a fence, runs 3/4 of a mile chasing someone, and has to push him to the ground,
They are not going to be smiling and talking nice to the suspect. In real life, about every other word the bad guy says would have to be "beeped" and about ever 10 words the officer says after a chase and such.

I agree with Fr. Chuck in that the cops totally play to the camera....because they have to for TV. I'll stope on it if I'm channel surfing and their filming a fight or something, but other that, I get enought at work. It does beat CSI and any other detective drama. Not realistic at all. Those give law enforcement investigations a bad name. embarassing.

Yup, we sure do. Never ceases to amaze us how many people choose to live the way they do and yes the actor-cops play to the TV but you'll notice the cops play nicer and the low-lifes play meaner...

genuine police paintings is extra uninteresting. maximum television shows seem to have a criminal offense of the century a week. maximum cops in no way shot at somebody. They do a super style of paper paintings and spend particularly a lot of time in courtroom.

I watch it sometimes. However policies are different in different places. It is funny to see the way other departments do things.
