"In what way?" I wrote back "Girlfriend" but than he said "Maybe" what does that mean? He always stares at me. Does that mean he likes me or what? Should i just tell him i like him in person?

thats a bad feeling, but in a good sort of way almost. Very high school. Anyway, look at the position you are in now, you are without him and the worst case scenario is you will stay that way, aside from a little embarrassment (which will go away soon enough) It might be a little creepy, but try and take notice of what he likes and write it down. learn about it online, become fluent in the topic. Then talk to him about it if you can. Dont be too hasty to bring it up, but wait until it wouldnt be weird if you started talking about it. For instance if he is really into 1920s blues, it would be weird if you blurted out some rando fact about Lead Belly Johnson or whoever. That will sort of get your foot in the door if you execute it properly. Also try to not act like you are pandering to him when you talk about this interest, even though you sort of are. good lux

"maybe", means he doesn't really know what Ur like in person and he wants to get to know you better. You should start becoming friends with him first, and then build Ur relationship from there. He stares at you because he expects you to say a hi or a sign that you want to be friends with him. I suspect this guy is shy and doesn't no how to react to this.

Keep in touch with him and learn more about him before you lay it all on the line. If you rush it you could scare him off and rush something that could be great. Staring at you from a far is kind of romantic why rush it. He's interested keep him on the line.

it either means he doesn't like you, or that he does but wants to seem cool about it. if hes staring at you it dosen't necessarily mean he likes you, maybe you are just hot...

First of all, how can he like you as his gf if you're not his girlfriend? You can't like someone as a friend if they're not your friend. But yeah, he definitely likes you.
