I started drinking 2 - 3 years ago and no alcohol would make me sick the night of, I could go from sober to the drunkest person at the party in about 30 minutes to an hour.. These days though I can get a beer, bud light, miller light, coors, anything and drink maybe less than half and get the most extreme stomach ache, like the urge to puke.. So I have to wait a while then take another small sip and then go through the same thing all over again.. Does anyone know what could cause this and what to do to fix it without extreme medical work?

after so many years of abusing your stomack lining think you developed some form of stomach ulcer and GERD.

Too much acid intake especially without food can lacerate your stomach lining causing lesions.. it is called stomach ulcer.

However, GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. The liquid can inflame and damage the lining of the esophagus although this occurs in a minority of patients. The regurgitated liquid usually contains acid and pepsin that are produced by the stomach.

GERD is a chronic condition. Once it begins, it usually is life-long. If there is injury to the lining of the esophagus (esophagitis), this also is a chronic condition. Moreover, after the esophagus has healed with treatment and treatment is stopped, the injury will return in most patients within a few months. Once treatment for GERD is begun, therefore, it usually will need to be continued indefinitely.

Do not take any medication without doctor's assessment.

That doens't sound good. I would DEFINATELY get that checked out. It's MOST likely a stomach ulcer and can be treated fairly easily. It could possibly be any medications that you're taking interacting with the alcohol. (you'd be suprised how little alchohol can make drugs do crazy things, even if you took the drug days before drinking). Also, you COULD possibly have some liver damage. I highly doubt that though if you've only been drinking 3 years and you haven't just been completely ridiculous with it.

I would really go get this checked out because it COULD be quite serious. (that is if you're not on any kind of medication, and if you are call your pharmacist and ask them if it's medication related). They'll refer you to your doctor if it is.

My advice. GO TO THE DOCTOR. He probably won't have to do anything other than listen to what's been going on, ask a few questions, and possibly take some blood to check for liver damage. If it is your liver and you wait, you could cause some irreversible damage, which could eventually become life threatening. Most likely, it's a stomach ulcer and with some meds before you eat/drink you'll be fine.

It is best if you are having severe symptoms to seek out medical care. Like a previous poster, I believe it is likely you have an ulcer. However you could also have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), gastritis or other serious illnesses (rarely cancer). It is best to know for certain what you have, and get appropriate treatment. For the time being the obvious answer would seem to be avoid alcohol.

Sounds like you need to talk to your doctor about your drinking. Your stomach is telling you enough! Stop trying to drink more, it won't get better by doing that. Talk to your doctor and it would probably be a good idea to talk to someone in Alcoholics Anonymous. Good Luck.

There are some medications that can cause you to have reactions to alcohol. Two that I know of are Flagyl and disulfiram.
Flagyl is an antibiotic and disulfiram is actually for the treatment of alcoholism (so presumably you're not taking that!.) good luck.

I'm guessing an ulcer. Do some foods do this too?

You probably should go to the doctor. They can tell you what foods to avoid and give you medicine to repair your stomach if it is an ulcer.
