I'm a Christian and i just Got my first to me they are not wrong. but i think that there is a fine line like i think that naked women and devils are wrong or even i just have this tattoo because its cool that's silly. Tats should have a meaning to you or represent you in some way. The bible does leave a Grey area on this subject though so read your bible on it and if you feel convicted about it then theres your answer. I'm currently attending Bible College and i see nothing wrong with adorning the temple of God

I feel getting a tattoo can be a good thing. I don't think God would have allowed the production and population of tattoos if he thought it were bad. I do think that if there's no purpose to a tattoo, then it's bad. You should have reason for putting ink on your body, more of a reason than "oh that's cute I want that as a tattoo." However, if you wish to have a memory of a childhood thing, a dead person who you cared for and wish to display, or if you have an obsession with something (such as a dragon, a number, a symbol) then it is okay. So pointless tattoos = bad while meaningful tattoos = good. They don't have to have meaning to other people, but to you they do. I think if you're wanting a tattoo of Jesus, that's awesome. If you're under 18 you might want to wait to get a legally done tattoo, but if you're not even living in the same house as your mom, get the tattoo if you're ready. She loves you and will love you with or without the tattoo. She'll understand in time. My opinion: go for the tattoo.

The issue of tats was not clearly addressed in the Bible so your Mom is applying logic to the fact that we are supposed to take care of our bodies. However, it is what you are as a person and how you honor God that really matters the most. I personally have found that there are many people today that are actually turned off by tattoos and the sentiment seems to be building. Why not use temporary tats for a while to see if you really want to wear that thing day in and day out. If it were such a good idea, there would not be so many people having problems with the perpetual and unyielding aspects of defacing the skin....FOREVER! If you are going to do it for attention, you would probably get more by not having one. Unfortunately, people seem to like to play the "indulge and regret" game these days anyway. Just be different and put lots of thought into it.

From a Biblical perspective it is definitely wrong. The bible clearly mentions tattoos, and the fact that they are forbidden. I know it is hard today, and many younger folks wonder how the bible applies in todays times. Tons of folks have tattoos, are they all doomed? No....But, if you know it is wrong, and you know it is something that's biblically forbidden you are accountable. Having said that, there are lots of common place practices that are clearly forbidden in the bible. Piercing of the ears. Adorning yourself with make-up and jewelry...ETC... I think it's a personal decision. Do I think you will be condemned from heaven for getting a tattoo? No, I am sure God has bigger "fish to fry"... But then again why take the chance, just to be trendy? I'd wait for a year, if you still have the want for a tattoo, re-consider it then.

ok...if it is a religous belief that tatoos are "wrong" and it is your belief...then hold true to your beliefs. There are several religions world wide that view body art as part of thier religion. It makes them a 'stronger man'.
If you are a minor you cannot get a tat any way....and I really advise you to make sure that you are dead set on the tat you chose.. it's for life....it cannot go away without extensive laser work....
FYI it does not say anywhere in the Christian Bible that 'your body is a temple...do not tatoo it.' Most christians believe that you do not have a body only a spirit in the next life. What you chose to do to your body on this earth will affect how people view you.
Employers will chose a person who does not have body art before a pierced and tatooed person. If you get one make sure you can cover it for work.
I have 8 and they are all art except the one I regret from when I was 18 ignoring my mom saying my body was a temple.
Good luck, take care!

I just want to point out that one day when you're old and wrinkly... You will still have that tattoo and it wont look all that nice anymore. Personally I think it's a waste of money, and just weird. Do you have a really good reason for getting a tattoo or is it just spur of the moment? If God wanted us to have strange pictures on our bodies, he would make us born with them.

I can't see why God would care about you having tattoos or not. I would think how you live your life... being a good person... things like that should matter... not tattoos... Id ask your mom that... what she thinks is more important... and if its you getting a tattoo over you being a good person then she has some issues...

I was raised in a very christian family. I have 13 tattoos, and if your body is a temple, such as a church, then why can you hang drapes in a church to decorate but not decorate the "temple" you carry with you all the time?

I'm a catholic, with two tattoos. I feel there's nothing wrong with getting them. My older brother and younger sister each has one.
There are people who feel that they make you look dirty but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And my tattoos did not affect the way my skin looks or feels.
Just make sure what you plan to get is one that you'll know you'll be happy for the rest of your life. And do your research reputable tattoo artists around your area who have experience and who are safe and clean. The tattoo artist who did mine has been doing tattoos for thirty years.

When we kneel at th throne of God we will have new glorified bodies. We are also not bound by the Mosaic law, so tattoos are fine. As for the verse in Leviticus, pagans would tattoo the names of deceased family member on their bodies because they believed it raised them to heaven.
