Try to face your unit to west or east, earth magnetic field is weak that way. I don't think the degauss work on this since your Sony Wega already have an internal degaussing coil. The last method to solve this problem is to attached magnetic disc behind your tube (don't do this by your self because you need to open the unit to do it)

One of two things:
(1) Electromagnetic interference (if you're lucky)
(2)Your picture tube is on its last leg
Make sure you do not have any speakers around the tv that are not made for that purpuse (i.e., speakers that are not shielded)
Look for (and remove) any elecronic gadget, close to the TV set, that was not there before.
All new TV sets automatically degauss themselves when turned on. However, try to unplug is from the wall and leave it off for a while, and then pulg it back in. I don't have much hope that this will work, but it's worth a try.
If non of this is the case/works, see (2) above; in which case you may be in the market for a new TV

The speaker ought to have had some thing to do with it with the help of the years. A speaker, by way of having a magnet in it, might want to not be set close to a tube television. there's a proceedure, degaussing (demagnetizing) that ought to help. call a television restoration save.

Magnets, my friend! They'll do it to you every time. Magnets are everywhere, too - likely from speakers (external), or a too-close computer, or a great big U-magnet...
Degaussing can help.
