I get major migraines almost every night/day. I've been to the doctor WAYYYYY to many times and he prescribed me Imitrex a long time ago and i told him it never worked and doesn't work and he won't give me anything else or tell me what causes them. it drives me crazy i have a little newborn and the only time my headaches have stoped was when i was pregnant for 9 months i never had a single headache. Any advise on how to get rid of these or anything? Sometimes i can't even take care of my daughter i have to let her cry when they hurt so bad. Thanks for any advise.

If your doctor won't give you anything else after you told him they didn't work, look for a new doctor. A doctor is there to help you, they don't know your body like you do and they don't know what will work and what won't for you. The prescribe what they think will work, but maybe it's not right for you. My doctor took me through about 10 different migraine pills before I found one that worked.
As for the cause, It's really hard to pinpoint the exact cause of a migraine. I get them a lot too. My doctor has put me through test after test, but we still can't find out the cause. I have also tried medication after medication and right now, the one that works for me is Relpax. Imitrex didn't work for me and even made me sick. Fortunately, I've been getting my migraines for so long, that I have learned to recognize when I'm starting to get a migraine or just a headache. This has really helped because I have been able to catch and stop the migraine before it catches hold. If I catch a migraine before it takes hold...2 Advil Migraine followed a few hours later, If the migraine hasn't completely gone away, by 2 Advil Liquigels. Advil Migraine works wonders and it's a lot cheaper than the pills you would have to take.
If I don't catch a migraine in time, I take 1 Relpax and it says to follow 2 hours later with a second, if the migraine hasn't gone away. A 2nd Relpax WILL make you sleepy so be sure you can sleep for a couple hours before taking the second one. On top of taking the Relpax, I also use WellPatch a lot. They're patches that have a metholated gel that you stick on your forehead. These patches can be found in any store with a pharmacy.
If you can, and believe me I know it's hard, try to pay attention to what might be causing your migraine. This is something I have been trying to do for awhile and I have only found one possible cause so far. You may find the cause(s), you may never find them, but if nothing else, you can learn how to manage them.

a million. When is the final time you had a headache? Couple of years (consistent one) two. What did you are taking on your headache? Advil three. When is the final time you had a hangover headache? About every week in the past four. What labored for this headache? Time five. What does not paintings in any respect on your complications? Banging my head in opposition to a wall 6. Do you get stupid complications or throbbing complications? I most commonly do on no account get complications. When I do (consistent ones) they're most commonly stupid. A sizzling tub or truly well therapeutic massage works wonders. A chiropractor might aid too to get you again in operating order!

Like you, I had horrible migraines. I also had 2 small children that when Mommy had a migraine their world had to stop too. I went into my doctors office one day crying. I told him no more shots, no more quick fixes, I needed something that was going to help me everyday because I never knew when they were going to strike. He put me on Topamax. I started taking it 5months ago and since then I can tell you I have had no headaches! look up the info. WWW.Topamax.com Good luck to you. If you dont do it for yourself, look into it for your little girl, she's worth it. Have a good night.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

A friend of mine has a 20 year old son with the same problem. She took him to a specialist. He got two shots but this is where it gets kind of gory. He didn't get the shots in the neck but in the back of the head. He was pretty much out of commission for the weekend but he has been pain free for two weeks.
