becuase q is 1/3 of 2 +6 =7 7 = 1

I am guessing you are talking about lower case letters in proportional fonts in which the letter Q is wider than the letter L. That is because they are easier to read that way.

If you used a fixed width font like old typewriters (or Windows Courier font) the words would look strange since some would be skinny in the middle of a wide space and others would be fat inside that same wide space.
