There's this guy that I've liked for a year or two now. But I don't want to anymore. I get really sad at just the thought of him. I told myself to avoid him at school [We don't have any classes together anymore, so I figured it be easy. But it wasn't.], but I just couldn't. Everytime I tried to force myself to take a different hallway, I always seemed to end up passing him. Everytime I told myself to not look at him, not talk to him, I always ended up looking over and saying hi.

Is there anyway to just stop thinking about him? To just let go?

I swear, I've tried EVERYTHING. I've told myself that he DOESN'T like me, and proved it to myself. I tell myself that I hate him and he's stupid. But nothing ever seems to work.

There's a couple psychological ways; termination, transference, gradually letting it die out (painful), reciprocation.

Termination is when you 100% know they don't like you so your feeling just kind of die off after you feel sad for a short amount of time.

Transference is finding somebody else.

Gradually letting it die down is what you're doing which is bad! :P

Reciprocation is if he likes you basically.

The second you can't control, the third is a bad choice and you can take on the first and last at the same time :P

Start talking to him, start small like hi or etc, maybe start conversations with him in the hall, get to know how to talk to him out of school if possible and see if you feel anything then (or feel anything coming from him).

After that just tell him you like him, worst thing that'll happen is he'll say he doesn't like you, you'll feel shitty for a week and then realize you're better than him and get over it. Best thing that could happen is he asks you out :P

Have you and this guy ever been involved? Does he have any idea all of what's going on? If you want to stop liking this guy, try talking to him and just telling him the truth. Either it will work or it won't. And if it doesn't, you can stop thinking about it without regrets.

If you don't even want there to be a chance for a relationship, just pretend that's what you did and that's how the cards fell.

Have you ever thought about just telling him? If not....eventually it will go away. I'm in the same situation and it sucks. Try to stop thinking about it for awhile and hang in there!

you could just find something like a reason he doesn't like you back and maybe that will make you dislike him a little more or at least enough to not want to look at him
