I was out for a walk earlier, and this guy walked up and asked me if I had heard the good news about the Bible and if I was saved, while trying to hand me a picture of Jesus on a billion dollar bill with a Bible scripture on the back. For some reason he wasn't content when I said "Sorry, but I'm a Druid, and even though I respect your faith, I do not wish to join it." In fact he almost looked offended.

Can any one else think of a better way to handle these situations?

I think you did the right thing! This is how I typically handle these situations. For the people that say you shouldn't mention your beliefs, they shouldnt mention them to you. (That always irritates me. I'm sorry but dont tell me you want to save me and tell me about your religion. I've heard of it and I chose not to follow it.) But anyway I think you handled it perfectly and if he chose to get upset that is his problem really. Tolerance is not given to everyone. I try to be tolerant but sometimes the filter just doesnt kick in. LOL.

Don't worry about it. It happens. Once I saw a guy passing out pamphlets about the world coming to an end in a week or two. He wanted a donation to help pay for the printing cost. I ask him what he needed money for, if the end was that near. He actually got angry. The more I thought about it, the more I laughed. Takes all kinds I guess.

Read the Christian bible and show them the flaws in it. Curse the ground he walks on. Tell him Jesus was a lie. Then scream rape. Then run far away and if any cops come by and ask you what happened just point at the man and cry. You shouldn’t be bothered again, buy a gun just to be safe.

This all depends on your definition of "better".

I think you handled it very well. Some people would be offended with any response other than "Yes, I want to join your religion.". You were very polite.

Some people are pathetic...religion is all they have. They've been told to go out and do the stuff that they are doing. I am torn between being offended by them or feeling sorry for them or just plain LAUGHING at them.

All I can say is do what you did. You can't change people that are overly adament about their religion. The most you can do is decline their conversion offer and respect them even though they may not respect you.

Well I can tell you a funny story that happened to me. I was in the front yard with a friend of mine and these guys came up with the same type of thing to recruit us. My friend said "This is a house of homosexuals and we worship cock!" I thought I was going to die but, it worked they turned tail and were gone!

I am a Christian, and that kind of behavior would even put me off. I think just being polite and asking them to excuse themselves, or just move on yourself. It happens with all types, hindus, LDS, etc...

I usually just say "Not interested" and keep walking. If I'm in a hurry, I'll stuff it in my pocket and throw it away later. It makes them happy and I don't have to deal with arguing my views.

Not at all. I might have added a friendly "Blessed Be, my friend." I think you handled it wonderfully though.

P.S. There is a distinct beauty in all that is strange.

Brightest Blessings
