Everyone has the need to believe in something. The Bible provides a convenient set of rules to be a 'good person' while making genocide and oppression acceptable. If you believe ALL the teachings of the Bible (and you have to to make any of it authentic) you should be a bigoted sycophant with no consideration for others, except if they believe the same things as you.
It amazes me that Christians on here capitalize phrases such as 'Spiritual Awakening', as if they are worthy of being a proper noun. How arrogant.
If the Bible is fact, God help all the Christians. They really are in for a surprise.

The Bible has many people, places and events that are proved fact. Since many things in the Bible can be proven it takes the Bible out of myth and into non-fiction. True there is much in the Bible that requires faith but no one is asking anyone to believe those parts.

There is evidence and History can prove that a man was going around doing the things Jesus was said to have done, I can't remember what his Hebrew name was, btu they translated it is Jesus, and this all happened at around the same time, so that is not a myth, however no one can porve he is the son of God, The bible was at one time the words of God, however no one can prove this, and it is down to faith, and once men got his hands on it he used it to control people and gain power around the world,

It's not just a book say it, many historical books that written by romans empire say there was a man named Jesus and he was dead on a cross. The bible story just not like greek story with their myth gods and their immorality. The story of bible take place in real world, real place, some even has the same name. Don't be influenced by myth stories of the world. May God bless you and give you faith.

The Bible is a myth.
Human beings are fond of inventing myths, such as Peter Pan (the little boy who wouldn't grow old), Robin Hood (the man who stole from the rich to give to the poor) Jesus Christ (the man sent down to save the world).
It's all a bunch of baloney. But entertaining baloney.

Jesus and the Bible are true. I wouldnt try to
prove it to you. I can just tell my experience.
I wanted to be a better person, but didn't know
how. I thought that there are billions of people
on earth, and most of them believe in God.
I wondered if they could be wrong. In searching
my own mind, I had a Spiritual Awakening that
changed my belief from a scientific approach to
everything, to an absolute belief in God and Jesus
Christ. I also made a real effort to read the Bible
and I found everything there to be the Truth.
Today I feel I am that "Better Person" that I wanted
to be. Not Perfect, but on the right path that will
lead me to the promised "Everlasting Life".

The Bible has some historical information, but you are right; a good part of it is myths.
Jesus is the same way. It is historical fact that a man named Jesus from Nazareth lived and that he was a moral teacher and preacher. Whether he was the son of God is the controversy.

The person many people call jesus now, probably did live and teach sometime around that era, but as to the authenticity of the work and religion itself, yeah it's just a myth. Especially the idea of trying to ascribe godhood to him. Just more human mythology.

David T, you don't really answer the question because you are saying that a book has issued prophesies and the same book says they have come to fruition. Why is that proof? I could write a book saying that the common cold will be eliminated and then later in the book say it has been. Doesn't make it fact. I love the, 'I have seen God work'. Did he have his overalls on? If God worked, don't you think he would do something useful like eliminate disease. I cannot see him working for individuals. Very selfish.

No, but thanks for asking....if you are really concerned, here is some info.
Blessings

The Bible stands alone among literature. Prophecies written hundreds of years before an event have been fulfilled with 100% accuracy. There are approximately 2500 prophecies in the Bible, 2000 of which already have been completely fulfilled -- the remaining 500 speak of future events.
The chance of any one man fulfilling just eight prophecies has been calculated by Peter W. Stoner in Science Speaks at 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 -- yet 60 major Old Testament prophecies, having 270 ramifications were fulfilled by the life of Jesus. An example of the precisely fulfilled prophecies include the place of His birth, Bethlehem (prophesied in Micah 5:2, fulfilled in Luke 2:4-7); that He would be born of a virgin (prophesied in Isaiah 4:17, fulfilled in Luke 1:26-31); that He would be despised and rejected by Jews (prophesied in Isaiah 53:3, fulfilled in John 1:1, Luke 23:18); that He would be betrayed by a friend (Judas) for thirty pieces of silver cast on the floor of the Temple and used to buy a potter's field (prophesied in Zechariah 11:11-13, fulfilled in Matthew 27:3-10).
Fulfilled prophecy extends to the present day -- consider the people of Israel. In Genesis 12:2,3 and 13:13-15, God promised Abraham a great nation, a great name and a land that will belong to his descendants forever and through Abraham, that all families of the earth will be blessed. At the time, Abraham was 75 years old and his wife was barren. The prophecy was fulfilled when Abraham was 90 years old (Genesis 21:2) when his wife Sarah miraculously bore him a son. Over the next several hundred years, the nation promised to Abraham appeared (Exodus 1:7).
Later, through Moses (Deut. 28-33), God warned Israel that He will use other nations to remove them from their land if they are unfaithful to Him. He predicted that they would eventually be scattered across the whole earth and would find no rest. He also promised to bring them back to their land. Israel was unfaithful. King Nebuchadnezzar took people captive to Babylon, then burned the city and the Temple. God then allowed the Israelites to return to the land (Ezra 1). Later, in AD 70, Titus the Roman also destroyed the city of Jerusalem, scattering the people. In AD 1948, Israel became a nation and the people began to return to their homeland. They have since survived several conflicts. We think of the United States as having a long history, yet it has been in existence for only 200 years. Israel has been a people for more than 4,000 years.
2 Peter 1:20-21 describes how Bible prophecy can be so accurate: "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
Being a Hebrew prophet in ancient times was a serious and unenviable position. The prophet was purporting to speak for God and the penalty for any error was death. "But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." -- Deut. 18:20. Prophets had to be 100% accurate. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 gives a test to determine whether the prophet is speaking for God: "You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously."
Table 1 illustrates just a few fulfilled prophecies whose precise fulfillment attests to the Bible as the accurate Word of God.
