this is just a strange situation.i do have a girl friend and since she is not around , i cant take her. dont wana be alone/left out /look bad at the party

Ask one of your friends if their wife/gf has a sister or a friend who might be interested.
Why worry about the party? I'd be looking for someone for everyday rather than just one party!

what kind of a date do you want?? do you have to have a date because you will feel left out without one or you dont want it to look bad?? or you just need someone to talk to the whole time?? take a good friend of yours that is a woman. you dont want to find a complete stranger and ask her out because that would be awful for you and her to actually get to know her. take an exgirlfriend or just a good friend that actually knows you and a lot about you. dont take the chance to bring a stranger if you dont know how she acts in public.

post an ad on www.craigslist.org offering to be someone else's date for their christmas party if someone will go with you.
I am sure there are a lot of attractive professional people in the exact same situation you are in and they'd love the opportunity to trade such a thing.
