They probably are thinking that a baby will interfere with normal activities and outings.
But deep inside they are really jealous.

Actually, its the other way around. I ditched my friends when I started having babies. I really didn't want my children to grow up with people of negative influence in their lives... not intentionally. And I must say, I'm a happier person than I was before. Try to find some people that have kids as well, I'll assure you its so much better!

Most of my friends stayed my friends. I think it depends on how much the parents change though. Some change completely and are no longer the same person as before or all they talk about is "baby this" and "baby that".
Some friends might not like to be around children also.

I know as a young mother who isn't stay at home I have no friends. My friends I had pre-baby don't have anything in common with me anymore so we don't hang out. And the only other mothers I seem to be able to find are SAHMs....and you know how clan-like they are. There aren't any working/student mom playgroups in my area because I have seriously looked. Is it too much to want to meet a few other mommy's like yourself? ugh...

maybe they think you're too busy caring for your child. Why not give them a call or email them. Ask them what's up? Or invite them for a girls night out. Really, seeing as your baby is still small, maybe they just don't want to interfere. You have a baby now that needs alot of your attention, care and whatnot.

Because they are jealous and they don't want to fall in love with your baby when they don't want one. My sister in law and my brother in law don't come over anymore because we have two children and they are trying, they always make excuses.

i had that happen to me when i got pregnant. i think its because i chose not to drink or party while i was pregnant. but some people i think just want to be young and free forever and are afraid that if they hang around parents that they wont be able to be free and that u will never be able to anything fun ever again.
