I had them for three years, and yes, they do hurt, especially when getting tightened. HOWEVER, that being said, 20 years later I now have beautiful teeth that people comment on all the time. You will someday really appreciate what braces do for your health and your confidence. You can handle it -- look how many people have them.

At first they do hurt some -- it's a pressure and ache, NOT a really sharp pain. You also get that sensation when they are adjusted/tightened. I had them 26 years ago and I still remember the sensation as if it were yesterday!
My son had his braces for 2 years and they were removed last year. I do recall that the orthodontist did recommend that he take Advil or Tylenol after they first put them on to help ease the discomfort.
Once they're on, it's really important to keep your teeth clean and to floss the way they teach you to. I didn't, and wound up needing fillings on my front teeth. My son wasn't good at flossing, and they almost had to send him for gum surgery because they got so inflamed. It's a nuisance, but consider it an investment towards your future -- after all, it's only a few minutes each day.
In time you get used to them, and you will be glad when you see the results! I still get compliments on my teeth, even though I regret that I didn't wear my retainer consistently, so I can see where they've shifted back some. Just think how many millions of people have had braces -- you can do it!

I have had braces and there's no need to be scared. You have to go to get them tightened every once a month and for me that was the only time it hurt. After I got them tightened, they hurt teeny tiny bit for about a week, then went back to normal. It will be a little uncomfortable the first time you get them though, since your not used to having anything in your mouth. But oh my god, it's SO worth it! Your teeth will look amazing after and the feeling of when you get them out, don't even ask. It's the best feeling in the world! No joke! Good luck!

Braces aren't that bad, you just need a week to get used to them. They will make your teeth sore for the first couple of days, but after that, you'll be fine. Braces won't hurt as much as you think they will; probably the thing that hurts the most is the braces irritating the inside of your mouth, but they give you wax for that!

Orthodontic appliances can be uncomfortable, but the end results are worth the discomfort.
"Braces" are so common these days, you'll be one of many kids in your school with them. Your teachers may also have the invisible kind that are very hard to see.
Don't worry about it. Talk to your friends who have them. They'll tell you the same thing. Uncomfortable - yes. You may have to avoid eating some foods, but that's no big deal. You'll have to brush your teeth more often and floss....but those are things you should do anyway.
You'll be okay.

Well in todays Job world a straight mouth makes every difference in the world. I have had braces twice, teeth pulled, and such. When you first get the braces on its pretty bad. I had a migrane for a couple of days. Afterwards its just something you get used to. I still have my retainer on and the second time I had braces I had them on for 3 years.

It doesn't hurt so much as it is uncomfortable. Stay away from very cold food and you will also have trouble eating some foods (such as corn on the cob). Be diligent with flossing and brushing, and you should have perfect teeth in no time! If you have any additional concerns, don't be afraid to talk to your orthodontist - you're not paying him all that money for nothing!

No, it's not as bad as you hear. They are a little sore the first few days, then occasionally when they are ajusted. Nothing that Tylenol or Motrin can't help!!! I've had them two times and I am also a Pediatric Dental Hygienist and see kids with them everyday, it's a piece of cake really!!!

My sister has braces and that i had an expander and now I have a retainer. I do favor to get braces too. *screams* She suggested your mouth is sore accurate once you get them even though it is going away. And once you get it tightened that is sore for slightly. yet listed right here are the coolest things: each and each and every time you get them tightened you frequently get to regulate the rubber bands. they have a large number of diverse shades, or maybe glow interior the darkish. Plus once you get the braces off, you could get a retainer in an fairly cool layout. right it is a recipe for a shake to assist sore tooth: blend mutually 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, one 1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons honey, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Tip: warmth the honey previously blending with techniques from operating the container lower than warmth water. in case you play an device the position you blow, you could get plastic lep protectors so your braces do not rub hostile for your lips. (ouch!) confident, think ofyou've got to renounce some sticky chocolates, yet apples dipped in caramel or corn off the cob is only almost as good as a candied apple or corn on the cob. examine including your orthodontist/dentist in case you could chew sugarless gum. you comprehend that fantasy, that your braces or headgear will set off off metal dectors? properly, that ought to ensue. even though it not often does! Plus if it does set those buzzers off, only grin and bear it. wager what? some celebrities have become or had braces, which include Bethany Hamilton, Dakota Fanning, Emma Watson. also, you could get a particular toothbrush to assist sparkling lower than and in between braces. Ask your orthodontist/dentist the position to get one if neccessary. Plus, you could ask for slightly container of wax for in the journey that your braces are poking your gums. you in elementary words tear off slightly piece, knead it slightly, and stick it the position this is poking you. It truly enables. only imagine how large your smile will protect you get the braces off! good luck!

They dont hurt, just uncomfortable. Use plenty of wax over them when you first get them, and put lots of wax on them at night when you sleep. If you dont you'll wake up with cuts all on the inside of your lips! THAT hurts! Put the wax over the part that is stuck to your tooth, and it will make it smooth so it wont cut your lips. That's really the worst part.
