It's an anxiety thing. I do the exact same thing. I want to yell and scream.. over the smallest details. Try singing to yourself. Sing a commercial jingle or a song you know..

Concentrating on the words to and the music helps to take your mind off the problem and then things won't seem so bad afterwards.

A short temper can be a result of a low self esteem, also a kind of guilty syndrome, mixed with a severe lack of confidence in yourself and in the persons around You.

Also can be a signal of impatience against somebody, even everybody.

It is said that when You hate a behaviour in another person it really means that You hate the same behaviour in yourself, and it is easier to hate the people outside, and save our inner mate or soul.

Sometimes the short temper is as natural as a signal of tiredness, a hard working day, a big dissatisfaction.

No matter the origin can be, just think this:

Any time someone is angry because his/her short temper, the liver has problems, and then these problems will spread all around our body poisoning not only our metabolism but also our life, our world. So We have to stop that self poisoning. Instead, We have to take control of our life, smile to problems, ignore the cases when We think some one is attacking us.

Just smile, breathe, show at your face how happy You can be, and so You will be.

we do not have to complicate our own processes... have We?

So, take control of Your life, always be sure in any situation, keep calm, and show the world how happy YOU can be.

How about a kind of "mantra" to use whenever you feel yourself starting to get angry? An "anger management" technique, if you will, that's worked with clients of mine who had hair-trigger tempers.

When you feel yourself starting to lose your temper, say quietly to yourself "Anger is the child of fear." Don't just think it. That won't work. Say it, even if it's just in your quietest whisper. Words have power when they're spoken.

It will work.

It will work because it will remind you that anger is not a true emotion. It's a reaction to fear. It means that something about the situation you're losing your temper over is making you afraid and your responding to that fear.

Hopefully it will make stop and think long enough to figure out what you're afraid of and, more important, why. Once you've figured out what threatens you, you can try to deal with that (more appropriately) instead of the confusion you're causing yourself by losing your temper without knowing why you're losing your temper.

The point is that you can't lose your temper and think rationally at the same time. Using "Anger is the child of fear" as a spoken "mantra" will help you learn to think rationally instead.

shorttemper is never normal...it can be due to schizophrenia..or depression or mixed manic depression or anxiety..see if it is controlled with some social improvement..if there is no social adverse factor..then the only resort is medication-- ayurvedic is better than allopathic..no amount of meditation/lyfestyle change is going to help...because it is an illness and needs to be trwtaed that way...you seem to having some sort of depressive disprder...best is go for ayurvedic psychaitric t/t ..they really work..better than allopathic medication..

my friend, short temper is a result of excessive stress and tention. Try doing MEDITATION and breathing exercises. whenever u get angry, start counting in ascending order till u calm down or think of good things that happened in your life.

You must bring your full awareness to the next occurence, and the anger will transform in that awareness into compassion.

Whenever you get angry, the BEST way to get over it is to apologize... Try it just once... You'll see EXACTLY what I mean...
