If he always got along with them, then I would say that he might not be feeling good. Maybe a vet check if he hasn't been there in a while.

If the young ones are new, he is probably just reminding them who is boss. No matter where you put him, when he comes out, it's going to happen again, until they have it settled between them. Maybe the young ones are pesting him too much. Usually, the younger cats will play with one another and stay away from an old grouch.

Just make sure he isn't sick and it will be OK. Cat disagreements sound a lot worse than they really are. Did you ever listen to a kid screaming to get its own way and maybe a parent who was at their wits end raising their voice? Same thing...........just cats and in their language.

If you have a cat fight on your hands and don't have any water
available, make a loud noise such as clapping, banging a pan, etc.
Cats hate loud sudden noises and it often will end the confrontation.

One of your cats may smell funny to the other. Sometimes it may take
three or four months to get one cat to accept the scent of another as
'normal,' and will continue to fight till that situation is cleared
up. However, there is a way to clear that up a little faster. First,
rub a towel over one of the cats. Then rub the same towel over the
other cat. Now the cats will smell (kinda, sorta) the same and peace
can be restored. That is the reason kitty never attacks the cat in
the mirror after having seen a reflection once and checking it out.
The cat in the mirror has no scent.
Best wishes

As long as the cat is not really hurting the little ones bad, just let them keep going at it. That is what cats do to be the boss... just like lions on Discovery Channel. If there are several cats, the oldest one will want to still be boss. My cat is fighting my Great Dane right as I type... he goes for the eyeballs!

The more you try to interfere with their natural competition to establish a so-called "pecking order" the longer they will take to settle things.

The strongest will assert himself by fighting the others until they cow to him. The others will establish 2nd and 3rd place, and so on. Once established and agreed upon, they should let up.

As a younger cat gets bigger, he may reinstate the conflict to move up in the chain, but usually these don't last as long.
