3/4 cup of shortening or butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
Cream that together and add 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp baking soda mixed with 1 tsp water, 1 tsp of vanilla
Mix
Add 2 1/4 cup of flour, while incorporating the flour begin to add chocolate chips, at least 3/4 cup but more if you like and you can mix chocolate, white or peanut butter chips if you prefer.

My Mom made this while I was growing up and I've been making it while raising my kids. The cookies turn out great

Bake in an oven at 325 (don't let anyone ever tell you different, you bake cookies at 325!) use cold cookies sheets lined with parchment paper...I promise you'll never burn anything using parchment paper. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, depending on your oven and how done you like them. When I say cold cookies sheets, I mean have 4 cookies sheets and put two in at once and while they are baking prepare the other 2 cookie sheets, and just keep rotating so you always have 2 out that are cooling. Never bake on warm or hot cookies sheets.

Follow the one on the back of the Nestle Toll House package. The one in the yellow bag, semi sweet morsels. Add another teaspoon of vanilla. You can use your mixer. Lower the oven temp. by 25 degrees. Take them out of the oven when they look slightly undercooked in the center. They are really moist and chewy if you do this, after they cool seal in a ziploc or airtight container. Yummy and simple. Have tried others but always go back to this one because everyone ask for them.

Double Chocolate-Chip Cookies:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk-chocolate chips
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350° F.

Cream the butter and sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on high speed. Lower to medium speed and add the egg and vanilla. Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. On low speed, add the dry mixture to the butter mixture. Beat until fully incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Form the dough into approximately 1 1/2-inch balls. Place on parchment- or foil-lined baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake until centers are just set, about 12 minutes. Let cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
