It kind of depends on where you are going and what you are doing. The most obvious thing is a really comfortable pair of walking shoes, invest in a good map of the city.If you're going during the winter, pack plenty of warm clothes. If you're planning a night on the town, you're going to want some dress up clothes.

Watch the weather. Take clothes to fit what you are going to do. Jeans, sweaters and a Jacket. One or two dress outfits.

pack whatevever is needed and don't bring extra things you won't need to leave room in your suitcase for all the things you'll buy there.
