The angel of death is an angel from Heaven. God created all the angels first. They have free-will like humans. Death is inevitable and God created an angel for death, not to take our lives, but to be with us as we pass on. This angel comforts our soul when we die.
Lucifer was the first angel the God created. He was an archangel. He was jealous of God and God threw him out of Heaven, to earth and the other angels that followed Lucifer. Lucifer is a holy name given by God, so God changed his name to Satan, meaning "adversary". Satan & the demons are still angels but are fallen angels because they freely choose to disobey God.

All angels are heavenly. however... demons were once angels but are obviously no longer called that. Lucifer and 1/3rd of Gods angels were cast down to hell for wanting more power. The Angel of Death is different in religions. Catholics believe that the Angel of Death is Micheal. In Islam he is one of Allah's angels. he is viewed differently in these and other religions. Just because he is thought to take the dead, doesnt make him bad or unheavenly.

The original domain of all angels was heaven but...

For if God spared not the angels that sinned but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgement...2 Peter 2/4

And the angels which kept not their first estate but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day... Jude 1/6

And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and the dragon fought and his angels,
and prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven,
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil and Satan which deceiveth the whole world, he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12/7-9

Notice that the whole world is deceived.

See how everybody has "their own opinion."

Therefore the only escape from that deception is through God's word of truth.

The Angel of Death takes people to Heaven. (Or rather, to stand before God for their judgment, to see if they're going to Heaven or Hell.) Try watching "Touched by an Angel" sometime, especially any episode from 1996 onward. My friend and I both have a crush on Andrew--he is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest Angel of Death you could ever hope to meet.

If, on the other hand, you're thinking of the Angel of Death from Cecil B. DeMille's old Ten Commandments--yeesh!

Angels have their purpose, so why wouldn't there be an Angel of Death? Death is a part of our life. Would we go willingly?

Satan WAS an angel of God, but he wanted people to serve him and became "SATAN" and other angels followed, and then they were cast to the earth, so they are fallen angels... Not good heavenly angels

Satan was the fallen angel. He wanted to be God and he was cast out of Heaven....Now he is called the "prince of the air" and the "father of lies" --he roams the earth looking for someone to devour...to turn people against God.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
