It depends on what State. Letters to Santa can be mailed (within the U.S.) to your local Post Office. For example, if you are referring to Antioch, IL, your postmaster may be reached at the following:
USPS
c/o Letters to Santa Claus
420 Orhard St
Antioch, IL 60002-9998

Actually, letters to Santa are addressed:
To Santa Claus
C/O The North Pole
From there, the post office takes care of them.
Another idea though: a couple of days ago I noticed a small article in the local paper here "The Redding Record Searchlight", that was advertising letters FROM Santa.
This in itself may help you out. Just type in www.redding.com. This will get you to the newspaper. Then check back a few days worth of articles. This is a small town, and it doesn't take long to go through the paper. I only get Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays paper, so this will narrow it down.
One other suggestion-you can either email them or call them.
I hope this helps you out.
Good luck, and Happy Hollidays!

As long as it is addressed to Santa Claus, the post office will give it to a local group who will read and answer the letter.

You don't need it. Just leave the letter in your stocking and he'll come by and pick it up.
That's what I always do.
