I use to think that looks counted but NOT anymore. Its what is in your heart and personality that counts the most.YES what is inside is the most important. Say if you look horrible (in my case body fat etc) the person isnt looking for the out layer ( if they are interested) but the inner layer. How you talk , how you project your inner beauty.Your sense of humor and how you carry on a conversation. Beauty is after all "skin deep". That is my input for you. Hope it helps.

Yes, looks always count. But, if you are not a supermodel, there are things you can do to minimize this effect.
First, find ways to be judged on your personality, not your looks. If you meet someone in a bar or a loud club, the only thing you can be judged on is how you look (and perhaps how much you drink!) but there is very little you can learn about the other person from shouting in their ear.
Try to find things where you have more of a chance to interact with the other person in a one-to-one sort of way, not a "meet market" sort of way.
Check out volunteer opportunities, or activity groups, things that let you shine at what you do best. Don't be afraid to ask for an email or phone number if you meet someone and have a good conversation with them. And also, don't be afraid of the simple sentence "Hey, are you single?"
I can totally relate to this question because my strongest quality is my sense of humor, so unless I have a chance to show that off, I don't get a good reaction from women.
Regardless, dating is always a bit of a numbers game, and you will strike out sometimes. Don't get upset or obsess about what went wrong, just vow to do better next time and make sure you don't repeat any mistakes you made.
If you meet enough people, some will be shallow and only see your looks, but do you really want to be with someone shallow? Keep looking and you will find someone who likes your personality best of all, and that is the way to make a truly lasting relationship.

I'd say looks aren't everything but they sure help! The inside is what really counts but unfortunately before someone even takes a chance on getting to know the person on the inside, they have to like what they see on the outside. That means there are a lot of wonderful people out there who have so much love to give but no one notices. It is such a cruel world sometimes.

It doesn't have to be the most important quality in a significant other, or even a priority. It depends on how much you value personality. Generally, when relationships are started solely because the people are attracted to each other, they don't always work out...but if you take the time to get to know each other, appearance is not so important, and the relationship will be more solid.

I wish I could say no, but for most people yes it does count. I feel men have often dated me just because of my looks & I don't like that. So, I began talking to people on line or on date lines and then after they liked me for the inside I met them in person. I am now happily married to a man that I hit it off with on our first phone conversation.

Looks do count, because you want to be able to look at them while talking. But i agree with you, it all counts on whats on the inside.

Both count. Call me shallow or whatever, but here's why looks count.
They give me an actualy first impression that is true. If a girl is overweight than that tells me that she is too lazy to take 30min-1hr out of her day to take a jog. It also tells me she doesn't take good choices b/c of the food she eats.
Obviously, if a girl has a crooked nose, big ears, or some different colored hair, you cant really fix that so i tend not to hold that against any girls.

To a lot of people yes it does matter and that is un fortunate for them because they are the ones losing out on everything by waiting around looking for looks...The most that matters is the inside and how well you get along and everything elses happens with the other person

I wish I knew you :)... I seriously don't know anybody that thinks it matters on the inside and not the outside. I think cute people never want to date an ugly person... if that's true, I guess I'll never find a cute boyfriend... lol... Well, it's kind of like saying that smart people dunt wanna go out with a stupid person. Some people dunt care, but some people care alot. I guess it varies with each person.
