Unfortunately, all faith's can be guilty of that a little. Most of the ones you're talking about are those who deliberately bait believers just to have an arguement that will never be resolved.

Unfortunately, in "Religion and Spirituality" there are no straight forward, factual answers - it's about faith and lack of faith. Nobody - Atheist or Christian or Muslim or otherwise can say they know for a FACT that God does or doesn't exist.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "force beliefs down others throats". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses have no actual connection with that methodology. They would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

i have been asking myself the same thing for years but i have yet to receive a good answer. these atheists love to criticize because they secretly yearn to know God as well. It is almost as if they are fighting the urge to be with God because Satan has had a hold over there lives all this time. what better way to learn and not be noticed, than to ridicule and doubt. look at his board and all the atheists. what do they all have in common? sadness, anger and criticism. look at there Q&A and see the sarcastic hateful remarks to God and other people of various religions. we need to pray for them and hope that they can come to the light and shun the devil away. i just dont understand why they are just hateful people and especially towards Christians, no one else. they never have anything good to say. everyone is entitled to believe what they want. what gives them the authority to discredit anything?

I can say I don't shove my beliefs down anyone throats- I don't normally even post in this forum.
But this caught my eye.

I am tired of the secular world forcing it's way into politics and attempting to affect a way of life that has been embraced in America for centuries. I am a Christian and proud of it-
I will proudly face my judgement at the end by whatever God that awaits me knowing that I have lived my life embracing values that benefitted not just me but my fellow man.
If only everyone could say the same this question would be moot.

I have just started coming to Yahoo Q and A and I have so far, without any interaction one on one, have been accused of having a head of stone. An idiot...threatening to world peace, deserving of being wiped out, judgemental, rude, stupid, a threat to progression, a moron, compared to terrorists, I lose intelligence the more I have faith, I could go on and on. People are really hostile towards christians in here. I wonder why that is. Do christians blow themselves up in the name of Jesus? no....do they kill babies? no. Do they steal from the poor? no (generally speaking of course...this does not apply for all but for the vast majority)....Do they kick puppies? no...They generally TRY to be moral human beings, who are very charitable and who's main wish is to share the love they have recieved from the Lord with others. I have never "forced my religeon down anyone's throat"...nor have I said, "your going to hell". I was raised exposed to christianity and have never heard this. Apparently I have led a very sheltered life because all the christians I know are genuinely kind ppl who in their imperfect way, try to be good productive citizens. That must be very offensive to some.

I don't, if I ask Christians a question, once its been taken down then reinstated (I assume some Christians don't like being asked questions) I normally give a Christian the best answer, after all those are the people I'm asking

Totally coincidentally, I just posted to a question that asked whether or not I agree with the sentiment that people are not allowed to criticize religion. Most people there disagreed with the statement. As far as I could see, I was the first to agree, and this question is a perfect example why I did.

It should be obvious that atheists are very interested in religion. They just don't believe in god. As a pagan I have no problem with atheists and they have never tried to shove anything down my throat (unlike the xtians I know). Do you wonder why they hate you when you are trying to "save" them? Why hate them for trying to open your mind? Every coin has two sides.

Asking an atheist why they are interested in religion is like asking a drowning person why they are interested in water.

The door swings both ways on this one. Every single day I see "questions" which are really just attempts at shoving Christianity or Islam down the throats of others.
