It is just a myth. I never get drunk using a straw.

I think maybe because you drink it faster when you have a straw. I notice that when I'm drinking with a straw I get drunk faster.

Smaller sips that have time to be absorbed in the mouth, esophagus and stomach will more quickly raise your blood/alcohol level.
For a (quiet night at home) experiment, try this: Get a liter of beer - your choice.
Every minute, on the minute, drink a one-ounce shotglass of the beer. No more, no less.
By minute 25, you will not be in a position to operate anything more complicated than a spoon.
Same principle.
(Do this with friends, it's strangely fun).
Best wishes!

Maybe it's beacause alcohol sinks? If you sip it you just gte the juice or soda or whatever and if you drink through a straw you're sucking the alcohol straight off the bottom.

Placebo.
Like when you do a clinical study and they give some of the people sugar pills.
But since they are told they are being given a medicine, they experience side effects.
Mind over matter.
