I'm making cookies based on a recipe from my grandma. However I'm remembering it as best I can and I think I am a little off because the cookie mix is way too crumbly.

It is 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup white sugar and 2 cups white flour.

What can I add to make it smoother?

No, they are 3 ingredient cookies. I either need to add more butter, more flour, or more sugar to make it work.

Your Recipe sounds a lot like my Grandma's Cookie recipe.

(Butter Cookies)

4c. flour
1c. sugar
1lb. butter or margarine (prefer butter)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Drop by spoonfulls on cookie sheet. (It works better to foll them into balls and flatten them. According to Grandma.)

Bake 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

I hope this helps. We have also used this recipe
in a cookie press and decorated them.

I hope this helps.

Merry Christmas!!!

Shouldn't there be a couple of eggs in there? As well as salt and baking soda? How are the cookies going to rise without them?

You can add a little water or 1 egg.

Your recipe is to dry.
I would try adding a half
cup milk or water.

If it doesn't call for eggs, I would say it is at the consistency it is supposed to be at. Try to squeeze what you have into small balls and bake like that.
