If you have health insurance, I would strongly recommend that you go see a podiatrist. You will be custom fitted for orthotics that are right for YOUR feet. However, if you can't afford it or your health insurance won't cover it, there are other options. You do sound as though you may need inserts for your shoes. You can buy these at local shoe stores--you'd be surprised how many places sell these. You probably will pay somewhere around $30 for them, and they are worth it.
Also, "good" shoes and supportive shoes are not the same thing. I see lots of women every day who wear high heels because they look good, but they are destroying their feet and causing all sorts of problems. One of the other posters is right--athletic shoes might be best, if you can get away with wearing them at work. (You may want to discuss it with your manager so he or she understands the problem and why it is necessary).
Good luck. If that doesn't improve your symptoms, please go see a podiatrist.

i had the same problem. i bought expensive shoes (steel toed boots) 3 in a row, and then went to walmart and bought cheap $34 tennis shoe type and i felt the arch support the minute i put them on. i walk on concrete all day and have no problem. Good feet arch supports are an option but i hear about $400. too rich for my blood. I have tried gels, foam, and anything else you can think of. Dr. schols shoes are junk.

Get a piece of foam off your bed , cut it and put in your shoes, this will do miracles. If they hurt too much put magnets, flat ones like u stick on a car and put in shoes.
elevate feet on sofa at night time.
Put some olive oil on your feet.

Walmart and other stores sell foot baths. They are great for tired feet, some have massages and heat. They are great for pedicures also.
They sell products to put in them also, one is Johnson's Foot Soap.

Go to the "Good Feet Store" they have them here. They have orthopedic inserts that will make the pain go away.
